Caltech to Host the Society of Exact Philosophy Annual Meeting
Caltech's Division of the Humanities and Social Sciences will host the 42nd annual meeting of the Society for Exact Philosophy (SEP), June 22-24. The Society for Exact Philosophy is an international scholarly association, founded in 1970, to provide sustained discussion among researchers who believe that rigorous methods have a place in philosophical investigations. Christopher Hitchcock (Professor of Philosophy, Caltech) is the current president.
The meeting is being held in conjunction with the 11th annual Formal Epistemology Workshop (FEW), which will be hosted at USC on June 20 and 21. On Sunday, June 22, Caltech will host a joint plenary session of both societies. For more information on FEW, please click here.
The keynote speakers will be:
- Susan Haack (Distinguished Professor in the Humanities, Cooper Senior Scholar in Arts and Sciences, Professor of Philosophy, and Professor of Law, University of Miami)
- Scott Soames (Distinguished Professor and Director of the School of Philosophy, University of Southern California)
- Bas van Fraassen (Distinguished Professor of Philosophy, San Francisco State University; and McCosh Professor of Philosophy, Emeritus, Princeton University)
