The Species Problem Problem and the No Solution Solution
Matt Haber,
Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Philosophy,
University of Utah,
Bad news. There's not just a species problem, but a species problem problem. Worse, the latter suggests that the former is irresolvable, implying we ought to be skeptics about any forthcoming solutions. But wait, there's good news too! Understanding the species problem problem provides a way out, namely, the no solution solution. In this talk Haber will unpack these claims, demonstrating how the recognition of a genuinely skeptical problem can provide fruitful ways out of entrenched research problems.
