Why and how Aedes aegypti mosquitoes evolved to seek humans
Aedes aegypti mosquitoes have evolved to selectively target humans within the past five thousand years — demonstrating the remarkable ability of natural selection to reshape animal nervous systems. I will discuss our work trying to understand why and how this happened, from the ultimate ecological drivers to the proximate neural and genetic mechanisms.
