1943 At (almost) unprecedented cost this film in glorious colors, a super-spectacle with an all-star cast (Hans Albers, Brigitte Horney), ingenious special effects and other great entertainment values was commissioned by Nazi Germany s Propaganda minister Goebbels and very much meant to divert an increasingly demoralized country as it is starting to realize that the war will not be won as promised.
