Poetry Reading
Eavan Boland,
Irish Poet and Author; Professor and Director of Creative Writing Program, English Department, Stanford University,
Eavan Boland is at once a distinctively Irish and an international voice in contemporary poetry. Born in Dublin, educated in London and New York, she currently directs the creative writing programs at Stanford University. An acknowledged heir to Yeats, she has decisively introduced the voice of the woman poet to an Irish lyric tradition. In the words of the Irish Book Review, "modern Irish poetry would be unthinkable without her presence." A 2016 inductee to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Boland is a recipient of the Lannan Foundation Award in Poetry and the PEN Award for creative nonfiction.
