Einstein Seminar: Hanoch Gutfreund
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the theory of general relativity and the announcement of the first-ever observation of gravitational waves as they arrive at Earth, the Division of the Humanities and Social Sciences and the Einstein Papers Project at Caltech present an exhibition of Einstein manuscripts, calculations, letters, books, and photographs housed at the Albert Einstein Archives at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. The exhibit will contain manuscript highlights from the years 1907 to 1916, during which Einstein formulated general relativity and exchanged letters with many other scientists in Europe and the US.
Gufreund, with Diana K. Buchwald (Caltech) and Jürgen Renn (MPIWG), wrote a piece on "Gravitational Waves: Ripples in the Fabric of Spacetime Lost and Found" for the Huffington Post, available here.
