Abstract: Profound societal change and continued technical improvements will be required to meet our climate goals and facilitate a just transition. There is an urgent need to recognize the role of the public in it. In our ongoing work, we explore how the intersection of thick and big data can enhance our understanding of climate and environmental justice in hard-to-decarbonize sectors. At the same time, it helps us design context-specific policies. Our results show that climate action matters to the public and the digital economy can be a critical tool towards fulfilling emissions reduction opportunities across the globe.
